Talent MATCH
This project saw the creation of a program called Talent MATCH, a partnership between BC Post-secondary and three associations representing arts and culture, as well as tourism and hospitality. The four-way partnership was represented by ACE-WIL BC on the post-secondary side, and g2HR, BC Arts Council, and BC Museums Association on the industry side.
Talent MATCH created a communications plan in conjunction with the partner organizations, wherein they would share content developed by the Project Manager, including resources on student recruitment, funding sources, info sessions/webinars with funders, and ACE-WIL’s Post an Opportunity portal, as well as promoting one-on-one support. This content was shared in newsletters and social media distributed by the BC Alliance for Arts + Culture, the BC Museums Association, and go2HR, as well as through affiliated organizations to further the reach into the museums, arts, tourism, culture and hospitality (MATCH) sectors.
Resources that were designed for and promoted to MATCH sector employers, and that will be shared during this session, include:
- Recruitment Toolkit: featuring how to connect to post-secondary institutions, notes on what to include in a job posting, job interview tips including sample interview questions, and suggestions on how best to recruit and hire remotely.
- Hospitality, Tourism, and Culinary Arts Recruitment Guide: A simplified guide highlighting which schools in the province have hospitality, tourism and/or culinary arts programs that employers can recruit from and when those student work placements can take place.
- Funding Aimed at MATCH Sector Organizations: An overview of grants and wage subsidy programs that museums, arts, tourism, culture and hospitality organizations can access to fund student hiring.
- Managing Students Remotely: Tips on how best to manage students working in a remote setting.
- Hiring For and Cultivating Initiative: Tips on how to filter for candidates who are able to take initiative and work independently while also building a work environment that cultivates initiative.
This program has been extended for phase 2, and we will also share the goals and strategies we intend to implement as the project continues through 2022.
