Equity Diversity Inclusion Resource Hub – Addressing Discrimination and Barriers to Inclusion

This project examines the barriers in WIL specifically faced by marginalized student groups such as international, refugee, LQBTQ2S+ students, students with disabilities, and students from low socio-economic status backgrounds. The project explores tools and resources to help WIL employers and staff effectively address student barriers around discrimination and inclusion.<br>

Industry Engagement Toolkit

The Job Development Initiative involved conducting a job development plan targeting specific Camosun programs and related industries, training employment facilitators and developing an industry engagement toolkit to support WIL practitioners in making regular, timely connections with business and industry in order to build a plethora of WIL opportunities.

Access to WIL for Students and Employers in Rural Regions

At a multi-campus institution with centralized services it can be difficult to reach the entirety of a college region and all of its campuses, and employers. Through this project regional coordinators were hired to facilitate the expansion of services to students, community and employers, increasing awareness of Co-op and WIL.

Talent MATCH & Talent 4 Non-Profits

Talent MATCH generated awareness amongst museums, arts, tourism, culture, and hospitality (MATCH) organizations about hiring students by offering resources and info sessions to educate employers on funding, connecting with schools, and attracting students. Resources were also developed for students in addition to 1-on-1 sessions with a Career Coach.

WIL Impacts Framework Survey Project 2024/25

In 2024, the BC WIL Council implemented the WIL Impacts Framework Tool across all BC public post-secondary institutions, as part of the StrongerBC: Future Ready Action Plan. This included a survey focused on the impact of work-integrated learning (WIL) within host organizations and the BC economy across five socio-economic domains.<br>

WIL Impacts Framework: Measuring the Socio-Economic Impacts of WIL programs

The WIL Impacts Framework was developed by the BC Work Integrated Learning Council so that BC’s 25 public, post-secondary institutions could gather valuable data regarding the impacts of work-integrated learning (WIL) experiences on host organizations and the local BC economy.
