In this presentation we will describe how we used the development and implementation of an online diploma program to reach rural and remote communities by fostering new and innovative WIL opportunities. These efforts begin to address some of the equity, inclusion and diversity goals of our department. We will provide an overview of the logic model and measurement framework that we used to identify our short and long term outcomes and to measure our progress and successes.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Describe how the Department of Therapeutic Recreation at Douglas College used WIL to address equity, diversity, and inclusion issues for rural and remote students.
2. Describe how community and employer needs in rural and remote communities can inform and strengthen students’ WIL experiences.
