Emotional intelligence is a vital skill in preparing students to be nimble and able to adapt to the level of change they will experience in the future – yet it is not typically found in PSI curriculum. In this session, you will learn about a project which trained 75 post-secondary educators in BC and developed a Community of Practice to explore shared scholarship and innovation in integrating emotional intelligence into work-integrated learning programming and academic curriculum. We will share highlights from the project including how some of the participants have applied their EQi training in career education and offer further resources and ideas on how you can integrate emotional intelligence into WIL curriculum and programming.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the connection between EI and WIL Success
  2. Identify at least one new practice, system or resource on how you can incorporate EI into WIL curriculum and programming
  3. Learn about the project’s accomplishments and development of a provincial Community of Practice
  4. Explore ways to integrate EI in your practice to set students up for career employment success
