Equity Diversity Inclusion Resource Hub – Addressing Discrimination and Barriers to Inclusion

This project examines the barriers in WIL specifically faced by marginalized student groups such as international, refugee, LQBTQ2S+ students, students with disabilities, and students from low socio-economic status backgrounds. The project explores tools and resources to help WIL employers and staff effectively address student barriers around discrimination and inclusion.

Indigenous WIL Resource Hub

Through funding provided by the BC Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training, and in partnership with the BC WIL Council and six post-secondary institutions around British Columbia, the University of Victoria led this provincial initiative to develop resources to support Indigenous student access, retention, and success in WIL programs.

Improving Access to Co-op/WIL among Students with Disabilities

Identifying and working to remove barriers to students with accessibility needs that have self-selected not to participate in Co-op at Okanagan College, as well as supporting students already participating was the underpinning focus of this project.

Access to WIL for Students and Employers in Rural Regions

At a multi-campus institution with centralized services it can be difficult to reach the entirety of a college region and all of its campuses, and employers. Through this project regional coordinators were hired to facilitate the expansion of services to students, community and employers, increasing awareness of Co-op and WIL.
