Practical nursing students gain experience in a variety of supervised clinical placements throughout the two-year program. Program delivery supports a client-focused approach with learning occurring through formal and informal study, mentorship, coaching, role modeling and experience. The program utilizes multiple approaches and embraces concept-based, case-based, skills-based and integrated learning experiences in the classroom, lab and clinical sites. Graduates write a national licensing exam to become Licensed Practical Nurses.
Clinicals are carried out in complex care, community, mental health, and acute care settings, providing a wide range of experiences for students.
Many students are available for work at the end of April of their second year, as graduate practical nurses, prior to writing the REx-PN. So be sure to connect with us in the fall or January/February with postings. Please use the links below if you have any questions about the Practical Nursing program.
