Candy Ho – Instructor, Co-operative Education Kwantlen Polytechnic University

Candy has been working in co-operative education ‘officially’ since 2013, although her “love affair” with the program started much longer having been a co-op student and co-op employer!

Her work and educational background include a decade in student affairs, – orientation and transition, campus life, student engagement, academic and career advising, and university advancement. She has a Bachelor of Arts (English, Psychology, Education), a Master in Education, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education.

The part of her job she enjoys the most is the opportunity to serve as students’ guide to their career exploration process.

3 words her coworkers would use to describe her include:
Enthusiastic, learner, and engaged…. And depending who you ask, “troublemaker” is a close fourth. In her leisure time she has been experimenting with tea-infused baking.

To demonstrate Candy’s commitment to her own professional development,  in 2017 she will teach a fourth-year course at KPU in the education department – EDUC 4100: Transitioning to Work, Graduate School, and Post-University Life, a course which she admits is a culmination of years of experience, networking and hard work! For Candy, the most valuable aspect of being an ACE member is the opportunity it provides to move beyond day-to-day educator roles, to engage with fellow colleagues outside of our institutions, and to promote the importance of work-integrated learning as an integral part of post-secondary education. What could be better? Social with drinks…and ACE does that too!
