Nominated by BCIT, Don MacDonald, and his company Rovalution Automotive from Vancouver, have been supporting co-op students since 2007 (six since 2011). Don is a Certified Red Seal Automotive Service Technician and graduated from the two-year Automotive Service Technician Co-op Diploma Program at BCIT in 2002. Don not only gives back to his alma mater (he has served on the BCIT Automotive Program Advisory Council for several years) but to the BC automotive community as a whole.

Don represents the new breed of co-op employers – he is a successful entrepreneur who understands the millennial generation, and passes on his knowledge and expertise while helping them to succeed in their careers. Since starting his own company, Don has consistently hired BCIT co-op students, and several of them have stayed on with him in permanent, full-time positions upon graduation.
Don, and Rovalution Automotive have demonstrated a deep commitment to helping co-op students thrive in the workplace. Don is generous with his time and goes the extra mile by serving on educational committees and projects that help to improve the profession and training of technicians.

“My co-op terms at Rovalution Automotive absolutely complemented my education at BCIT. The work I did there enabled me to transfer my academic knowledge into practical experience, and learn things that you only can in a work environment. Don’s very knowledgeable, reasonable, and a really good instructor – he’s been great to work alongside with – and as an employer, it makes him that much better.”
