Happy New Year from ACE-WIL BC!

Welcome back, everyone! I hope you had a restful and joyful holiday season. As we kick off 2025, let’s celebrate the amazing work-integrated learning experiences that shape our community. We can do this by shining a light on the outstanding WIL students, industry partners, and ACE-WIL members who make invaluable contributions to their communities. The ACE-WIL Awards help to honour and amplify the impact that these individuals make. Get inspired by checking out our past award winners and be sure to submit your award nominations for the upcoming year (January 27, 2025 is the deadline for ACE-WIL Student of the Year).

Also, the new Board nomination package is now live on the ACE-WIL website! Nominations close on February 28th—don’t miss this opportunity to get involved and make a difference. We will be hosting two virtual coffee chats for members curious about getting involved with the ACE-WIL Board and/or Committees from 12:30-1:00 PM on January 29 and February 21:

November 2024 PD Event Wrap Up

Thank you to the 106 ACE-WIL members who registered for the November 20th PD event Optimizing Day-to-Day Work with Gen AI: Best Practices for Supporting WIL.

The hybrid event hosted members both online in Zoom as well as lively engagement within eight regional viewing parties across B.C. including UBC-O, UBC-V, VIU, CMTN, Douglas, VCC, TRU and UVic/Camosun/RRU.

Presenters Karae White (UVic), Jenny Mao (CMTN) and Gwen Nguyen (BCcampus) shared their wisdom and expertise around practical approaches to exploring and using AI in our work. If you were not able to make it, or if you did join in and want to review the PPT slides, visit the Resource Hub to access these fantastic resources.

For members who attended, if you haven’t had a chance to complete the post-event survey please do! Your feedback is essential for planning future PD events, including the next event in spring 2025.
