Job Description

Reporting to the Associate Director, Experiential Learning, the Manager, Team Coaching leads and supervises the Team Coaches while also serving as a frontline Team Coach. In their supervisory and leadership capacity, the Manager oversees the work planning, loads, and performances of the Team Coaches, providing day-to-day coaching and feedback while identifying and escalating higher-level issues as needed. In their Team Coach capacity, the Manager supports students in developing the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for successful team development, including giving and receiving feedback, managing conflict, and demonstrating leadership in academic team environments.

The Manager consults with academic Program Heads to confirm changing service needs, which inform the Team Coaches' portfolios and workload planning as a component of the larger Experiential Learning business plan. The Manager also provides oversight of the core curriculum used by Team Coaching and liaises with the Centre for Teaching and Educational Technologies (CTET) on approaches to institutional implementation of team-based learning.

The Manager works in partnership within the Experiential Learning management team, and in collaboration with Student Services units to contribute to departmental initiatives related to student retention and success. The Manager is a member of the university's Collaborative Assessment, Referral and Education (CARE) Team, supporting processes for early intervention with vulnerable or at-risk students.

Job Requirements
  • Post-secondary master's degree in a relevant field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of an undergraduate degree and a minimum of five years' relevant team coaching experience.
  • Coaching training (certification an asset) and/or team-based skill development.
  • Understanding of the theory and practice of team and individual coaching, conflict resolution and organizational development.
  • Experience with instruction and facilitation in team processes, collaborative practices, and experiential learning.
  • Skills in areas of problem-solving, conflict management, difficult conversations, and providing feedback with a high level of diplomacy, tact, and discernment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to deal sensitively with situations that require intervention.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, including supervision and leadership of staff, budget planning, and process development and implementation.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Flexibility to work on statutory holidays, weekends and evenings, as required for residencies and urgent team issues.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Administrative and leadership experience in a post-secondary setting.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in both online and face-to-face environments
  • Familiarity with Moodle, Zoom, and other online platforms.
  • Intercultural and cultural diversity training, competence, and experience.
  • Sound knowledge of RRU, its philosophy, programs, and strategic direction.
Additional InformationThis is a regular, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week. This position has been evaluated at MPT-D with a salary range of $84,423 (minimum) to $99,223 (midpoint) to $114,023 (maximum) per annum. Employment offers will normally be made between the minimum and midpoint of the range and are determined by knowledge, experience and internal equity.
