President's Message

Greetings ACE-WIL Membership,

Welcome to the 2022-2023 academic year, everyone! When I've asked ACE-WIL colleagues for words to describe their summer, these have included "reconnecting", "togetherness", and "family" as well as "beach" and "clear-skies". However, "hectic", "time-warp", and "roller-coaster" were mixed in there as well. I hope you all had time to relax and spend with family and friends the last couple of months, but if you're feeling some of those latter words, I hope you are able to take time soon to regain some balance as we move through the fall.

I was looking back at my message to all of you last September. At that time, we had recently heard that the list of Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training funded Phase 2 Co-op and Work-Integrated Learning (COWIL) Initiative projects would be shared out shortly. I'm excited to now share that the final report for Phase 1 COWIL Initiative projects has been released! See the link to the final report in this issue. It's wonderful to see all the excellent projects that so many of our members have been involved with through this initiative.

After taking a break in July and August, the ACE-WIL Board had our first meeting last week to start planning our work for this year. Our President-Elect, Stephanie Greaves from SFU, and Director-at-Large Kim Pham from Selkirk College have done a great job in moving forward preparations for our May 2023 conference and assembling our conference committees. If you're looking for a way to take part in the conference, have a read through the call for volunteers for various ways to get involved.

We know that fall is a busy time for most of us that seemingly passes by with a blink of an eye, so please save the date for our next ACE-WIL Town Hall on Tuesday, October 18th (noon-1pm) when the Talent MATCH and Talent 4 Non-Profits teams will be sharing results, observations, and resources developed over the course of their project. Also in this issue, make sure to read the teaser about our PD session planned for later November.

Looking forward to connecting with all of you at these upcoming events!

Anna

Read the COWIL Initiative Final Report

The final report for Phase 1 of the Co-op and Work-Integrated Learning (COWIL) Initiative has been released. This initiative oversaw 74 projects originating from the landmark $9 million investment from the British Columbia Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training.
