President's Message

Dear ACE-WIL BC Members,

As we enter the summer season, I want to extend my warmest greetings as the new President of ACE-WIL BC. It is a privilege to lead such a dedicated group of individuals who are passionate about creating opportunities for post-secondary students throughout our beautiful province.

This time of year is filled with celebration as many students proudly participate in their convocation ceremonies, thanks in large part to the incredible support and engagement in Work Integrated Learning from all of you. We take great pride in their accomplishments.

During our recent Annual General Meeting, we had the pleasure of welcoming new Board members who have stepped up to contribute their expertise and time to our organization. I want to express my gratitude to Alon Eisenstein (UBC), Chelsey Evans (University of Victoria), Lina Guo (Vancouver Island University), Kyle Guay (Capilano University), Anaïs Holdaway (University of Victoria), and Ryan McDonald (SFU) for their willingness to serve alongside the many other enthusiastic and talented volunteers who make ACE-WIL BCs thrive.

I would also like to take a moment to celebrate Lianne Johnston of Douglas College, who was surprised with the Outstanding Contribution Award during the AGM. Lianne's exceptional commitment and hard work have had a tremendous impact on our association.

As summer approaches, I encourage all of you to take some well-deserved time off to rest and recharge. It is essential to reflect on our achievements and the knowledge we have gained throughout the year.

Looking ahead, I invite you to consider sharing your valuable experiences and insights by submitting a conference proposal for the 2024 ACE-WIL BC conference. Your contributions will further strengthen our collective understanding of Work Integrated Learning and amplify our voice in the province.

Before closing, I want to express my deepest appreciation to Anna Jubilo (UBC), our outgoing President, for her outstanding leadership over the past two years. Her steadfast dedication, inclusiveness, vision and warmth have propelled our organization forward. We are fortunate that Anna will continue to guide and support us as Past President.

It is an incredible honor to serve as your President. I thank you for your unwavering commitment to our students and the ACE-WIL BC community. Enjoy the summer!

Warm regards,

Stephanie Greaves
President, ACE-WIL BC

Kudos from the

PD Committee

The ACE-WIL PD Committee would like to deliver a huge THANK YOU to Andrea Sator and Nancy Johnson for presenting at the spring 2023 ACE-WIL PD event. It was inspiring to hear about the _ACE-WIL Practitioner’s Professional Development: Supporting the WIL Student Journey_ course and to learn about how we, as WIL Practitioners can use this robust resource to better understand WIL as an educational model and ourselves as WIL educators. The PD session PPT slides will be uploaded to the ACE-WIL PD Spring 2023 events page in the near future. Thank you to all members who supported our association by attending the PD event. Your participation is appreciated! The PD Committee will review the regional in-person viewing party format in the coming weeks and hope to expand on this format in the future.
