Story submissions for IMPACT 2020 close on February 28th
2020 was a year of change, adaptation and recovery for business and organizations around BC. Many of us have seen how WIL students bring the kind of skills needed to help their employers pivot during these turbulent times. IMPACT 2020: WIL Student Story Showcase is collecting stories on these outstanding students!
Students, WIL coordinators/faculty and employers can submit a story like the one above and enter the student in the running for a $250 award.
Deadline for story submissions: February 28th, 2021.
Submitting a story is easy! Just submit up to 150 words answering the question "How did you/your student make a positive impact, bring innovation or contribute to a new initiative in the workplace?" Read more and submit a story here: https://acewilbc.ca/students/impact2020/
What will the stories be used for?
The stories will be used for educating employers on the value that WIL students bring, and their unique abilities to help organizations innovate.

West Coast Virtual Fair: Help get the word out!
The West Coast Virtual Fairs team, a collaboration between the University of British Columbia, University of Victoria, and Simon Fraser University, will once again deliver the West Coast Virtual Fairs: Jobs & Volunteer Expo on March 2-3, 2021!
Employers will be able to showcase their organizations and promote career and co-op positions, seasonal jobs, and/or volunteer opportunities to students and alumni in one single event. This event is for employment and volunteer recruitment, and thousands of students and alumni from a wide range of faculties and programs are invited to attend using the Eventus virtual fair platform.
The 2021 event will make it easy and safe for employers to connect with the talent they need, and give students a place to explore a wide range of jobs and volunteer opportunities.

Save the date for upcoming PD: Anti-Racism Response Training (A.R.T.)
We are excited to offer this highly interactive Anti-Racism Response Training to ACE-WIL members. It involves experiential activities to develop and strengthen active witnessing skills. This training is designed to encourage participants to shift from being frozen or silent bystanders to becoming active witnesses. In doing so, we can disrupt racism and build a safer and more inclusive community for our students.

E-portfolio Research Study at UVic- Looking for Connections!
The Community-Engaged Learning Office at the University of Victoria is conducting a research study to review and support the use of ePortfolios for student work-integrated learning experiences. As part of this work, they are interested in connecting with other institutions who are working on ePortfolios for work-integrated learning or student learning in general.
If you feel your institution has successes or challenges that would be valuable for them to learn from, please connect with Project Coordinator, Suzanne Jolly, sjolly@uvic.ca.
They will also be sharing what they learn from this work, so please also let them know if you’re interested to learn from their process and results.
